Code of ethics

The ethical and professional principles that guide the daily work of the practice and its relationships with patients, staff, suppliers and the local community.

Preamble

This Code of ethics gathers the principles and rules of conduct which the Medical Direction, physicians, staff, assistants and all personnel of the Studio Odontoiatrico Conti Cortesi undertake to observe in the performance of their professional activity.

Adhering to these principles is not a formality: it is the expression of the way we have interpreted the medical profession for almost fifty years. Being honest. Listening. Not judging. Taking care of the person first, and the clinical case second.

1. Founding values

Our work is grounded in:

  • Honesty — intellectual, and towards others, always.
  • Respect — for the person, their history, their choices.
  • Confidentiality — of every piece of clinical, personal or family information.
  • Competence — maintained and grown through continuous learning.
  • Responsibility — professional, human, social.

2. Relationship with the patient

Dignity and listening

Every patient is welcomed without any form of discrimination — for age, gender, orientation, background, economic situation, religion or clinical condition. No one should ever feel judged for the state of their teeth, for their fears or for their clinical past. Our task is to listen — not to judge.

Informed consent

Every proposed treatment is explained to the patient in a clear, complete and understandable way: objectives, techniques available, expected benefits, possible complications, alternatives, timing and costs. Consent is obtained only once the patient has been given the chance to understand fully and to ask every necessary question.

Economic transparency

Estimates are issued in writing, in a detailed and comprehensible form. We do not employ high-pressure sales practices, misleading discounts, time-limited offers, or any commercial technique that might influence the free choice of the patient. Every treatment is billed according to the agreed rates.

Respect for therapeutic freedom

The patient always has the right to seek a second opinion, to refuse a proposed treatment, to interrupt one, or to go elsewhere. We never condition these choices, and we never judge the patient for making them.

Confidentiality

All health, personal, family and financial data of the patient are protected by professional confidentiality and treated in full compliance with EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR). No information is shared without explicit written consent, except where required by law.

3. Relationship with the team

We believe a serene working environment is the foundation for delivering quality care. We commit to:

  • Respect the dignity and professionalism of every colleague, regardless of role.
  • Guarantee safe working conditions in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Foster professional growth through continuous training, knowledge-sharing and empowerment.
  • Value initiative and proposals for improvement.
  • Prevent — and never tolerate — any form of discrimination, harassment or bullying.

4. Relationship with partners and suppliers

The choice of dental laboratories, material suppliers, implant systems and technologies is based exclusively on criteria of quality, safety, certification and reliability. We refuse any form of compensation, gift or agreement that might influence clinical or commercial judgement.

5. Relationship with the professional community

We maintain a relationship of respect and collaboration with other professionals in our field. We do not denigrate colleagues, nor do we use communication techniques based on disparaging others. When we refer a patient to another specialist, we do so solely on the basis of their clinical needs — without any underlying economic agreement.

6. Communication and health advertising

Our public communications — website, social media, informational materials — comply with the ethical rules of the professional order and with Italian Law 175/1992 (and subsequent amendments) on health advertising. We do not publish "before/after" images out of context; we do not use emotional levers based on fear or shame; we do not promote misleading prices or time-limited offers.

7. Environment and sustainability

We adopt responsible practices for the management of medical and special waste. Wherever technically and clinically possible, we look for solutions that reduce the environmental impact of our activity — from the choice of materials to the management of our spaces.

8. Reporting concerns

Any patient, colleague or supplier may report to the Medical Direction any behaviour deemed to be in contrast with this Code by writing to info@emotionaldentistry.it. Every report will be considered with seriousness, confidentiality and without consequence for those who make it in good faith.

Adherence to this Code is, for us, the premise of every care. Dr. Ivano Conti — Medical Director
